Frequently Asked Questions

What time should we arrive for our boat rental?

We recommend arriving about 30 minutes in advance of your rental.

Do you sell fishing license?

You will need to get your fishing license squared away before you come to the lake. We do not sell them on-site. You may purchase them from New Mexico Game & Fish at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/

What gear is provided with the canoes or kayaks?

Each rental comes equipped with life jackets and paddles.

What should we bring with us?

Make sure to bring identification for any equipment rentals, sunscreen, towels, and a fishing license if you plan to throw a line in.

How long can we rent the watercraft for?

All water vessels are rented for an hour at a time. However, if you wish to rent for longer, please contact us (link), and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Do you have to be an experienced ATV driver to go on a Backcountry Buggy Tour?

No – our experienced guides will drive the Buggies so that you can sit back and enjoy the ride! However, if you would like to drive, that can be arranged too.

Do you have dressing facilities on-site?

There are public restrooms available at the trail head but we do not have locker facilities on-site.

Is there an age limit for children to be on the water?

Our life jackets are approved for 30 lbs. and up. No infants are allowed on any of the watercraft without providing their own personal Coast Guard-certified life jacket.

Are pets allowed in the boats on the water?

Pets of any kind are not allowed on any of the vessels with the exception of the paddle boards which dogs can ride. Leashed pets are allowed at Grindstone Lake.
